so what is a brazil nut called in brazil? just a normal nut?
“so if a thing does not use its colonized, exportation name, then does it not have a name where it actually originates from, place in which the local language has nothing to do with english?”
no lol it’s castanha-do-pará, pará nut in translation. pará is a state in brazil that still exists, but it’s not actually the biggest producer of castanha do pará. it’s called that because back in ye olden days, the state of pará covered the whole area of the brazilian amazon. it’s also called a castanha-do-acre in the state of acre, since it is the actual biggest producer in brazil. my gran, who was bolivian, called them nueces bolivianas cause she was a nationalist (good for her)
we also just call a brazilian wax a full depilation and a brazilian president um boçal (a fucking idiot, in my free translation)
